Mysterious
– It is difficult to find an exact answer as to why this happened. The bacteria found in our environment and water flora, but there has been a resurgence that has produced a toxin. We must find an answer to what is causing this and why it happened, says the manager at Langedrag Nature Park, Tuva Thorson told Dagbladet.
Both calves to cows Svea has survived in spite of her mother’s sudden death. The two now sleeps inside in animal responsible in the park, Anne Grete Lindvik. They share sleeping accommodation with dog Arja.
deer Ronjas two calves could not do without milk from the mother, and died shortly after his mother. In addition, one of the calves to cows Elgvita – who also became acutely ill from the bacteria but survived – not fared. All three calves died as a consequence of their parents’ sudden illness.
– This has been a traumatic period for us. There is a grieving process, we become very fond of these animals. They have a tremendous personality and has been involved in much of what we’ve built here, says Thorson told Dagbladet.
Although the bacteria so far has led to the death of three adult animals, it is not applicable for the park to close.
– We took precautions at the start, but we have come to the conclusion that this has happened locally in their water flora. It can not be fed the sheep, and this is also not contagious. We currently awaiting conclusion, she says.
The nature park now works with both Norwegian School of Veterinary Institute and the Norwegian Food Safety Authority in order to get answers to elgdødsfallene.
Never had a sick moose
The first moose laying down Life was great bull Elgvin. He has been in the natural park right from they got moose.

She says that also was the case with the other animals that died. When they had checked the day before they were found dead, seemed all fresh and fast.
– We feel a great responsibility for this. We’ve never had a sick moose before, she says.
The third moose became ill, Elgvita, was in very poor condition.
– I took out all the grass she got and gave her only twigs. She has been groomed every three or four hours, and we got sucked out some of the poison. It has meant that we got saved her, says Thorson.
There are thus three calves and cows Elgvita again in the park. Recently sent four moose park to a project in Slovakia. It coincides Langedrag embark on a major elgsatsing. Among other things, they build now elgstall for feeding.
