Large Fire in mall in Bodo – Dagbladet.no

It burned still powerful in Hunstad Centre in Bodø frett before 23 GMT Thursday. A petrol station nearby is closed due to dangerous fumes, and neighbors are asked to close the windows.

– The Fire Department still has not controlled the fire. Police are continuously evaluating whether to evacuate people living nearby. Inside the premises of Jysk, where the fire started, there are some plastic furniture that emit toxic fumes, said operations manager Odd Ivar Pettersen in Salten police district told NRK.

In addition to Jysk contains Hunstad center including a fitness center and grocery store.

– The center has been evacuated and no one has been hurt, it said operations Odd Ivar Pettersen in Salten police.

Dangerous fumes

The petrol station nearby is closed due of dangerous and powerful smoke, and neighbors are encouraged to shut doors and windows. Police are continuously evaluating whether to evacuate people living nearby.

Just before the clock 23, the situation was still unclear. The fire department was still drifting extinguishing, police said.

Tor Geir FOLVIK was inside the building and played squash when the fire alarm went.

– Suddenly we heard a loud bang, then came the whole wall into. Then it was just to get more exercise, he says to NRK.



Blew out wall

Truls Andersen tells Avisa Nordland that it was easy wall between Jysk and Bodo Squash Centre which blew out right after the blast.

– When it came seeping into lot of smoke, he said.

The police was notified of the fire just after 20.30 o’clock Wednesday night.

Hunstad center is owned by Commercial Property II. There are 7,500 square meters and located about 8 km from the center of Bodø. (© NTB)
