– There had been damage to sheep in Area night before, so we had clear evidence that the wolf was nearby, says Kristian Eiken Olsen, who is acting predator responsible in Norwegian Nature Inspectorate in Agder and Rogaland.
He says that two hunters put on record by a marsh in the twilight.
– They heard that it began to be unrest in the flock, that it started to jingle a lot of bells. Then came the wolf walking on the moor, says Eiken Olsen.
The wolf was shot at 120 meters, when it stood broadside to the marsh.
– It was a good challenge.
The male wolf weighs 39 kg and is a normal to small wolf.
– We have injuries of around 20 sheep, and just as many are missing in the area, said Eiken Olsen.
– The situation is typical of the wolf. It kills because it can. The wolf must naturally work hard for their food, and when the then hvaner amidst a flock of sheep, then kill it because it has the ability, says Eiken Olsen.
He thinks there is nothing to suggest that there are more wolves in the area.
– The wolf is now in a freezer, and should routinely be sent to Trondheim to be investigated.
Last winter, a male wolf shot in Iveland in Aust -Agder.
