It is proposed to merge Aust-Agder and Lower Telemark District Court and put the new court in Skien.
Jæren District Court and Dalane District Court proposed merged and localized to Sandnes.
Additionally, it is proposed to merge Fosen District Court and South Trondelag District Court in Trondheim.
The Ministry will also merge Nordhordland County Court of Bergen County Court. Modum, Spokes and Sigdal District Court and Kongsberg District Court proposed merged but still retained respectively in Hokksund and Kongsberg.
– Greater courts will facilitate the liquidation of resource-intensive cases and lawsuits with several judges, says Anundsen.
He points out that several court cases have become more complex and time consuming.
A major college in the Court could provide the basis for better overall competence, the Ministry believes.
