Record number will Utøya – NRK

Never before have so many been pre-entered as for this year’s summer camp, and it is likely participant record. When camp gets under way, it is expected up to 1000 participants. It makes an impression on the leader of AUF, Buskerud, Andreas Brandt.

– It is great fun to see so many people will be involved in making the Utøya back and it is likely that this could be a worthy and good summer camp which emphatically demonstrates that the AUF is back, he said.

Among other things come up several new buildings, and now only remains to get finished buildings inside. General manager for New Utøya, Jørgen Watne Frydnes, says it is especially working towards this year’s camp

– This is a historic event and the first step to bring the island back. It is important to show that we quickly setters the activity that was attacked, he said.

It is the young county leader of AUF agree. Where is the first time he sees the new buildings and all changes. And he is sure AUF-holders will be able to take Utøya back after the tragedy in 2011.

– I’m sure. It has been a goal from day one, and it is about showing that terrorism can not stop us. and that it is impossible for terrorists to succeed in whatever he wanted, says Brandt.

Rooms for emotions

He was not at Utøya even the fatal summer day in 2011, but he knows more who was there. He says that there will be room to show emotion during summer camp.

– It is important to be aware that there is no set formula for what to feel, for it would be strange if it is not developed strong feelings around it to return to Utøya. Therefore, I am concerned that it will be a worthwhile and balanced summer camp where there is always someone to talk to. It is especially for those people to come back, but I see in any case forward to the camp, says Brandt.
