NVE: Working with golf course caused the landslide at Skjeggestad bridge – Varden

 It emerged as the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) presented its findings in Oslo Friday afternoon. The bridge has been closed since the collapse in February.

 It is the southbound section of the bridge affected, while the northbound course is scheduled to open to the public holiday.

 It was on February 2 that the southbound bruløpet broke down when the ground under the bridge foundations crumbled. No one was injured in the incident.

 Purpose-built jacks

 NVE parts causal relations into two parts: One part is due to natural causes, such as erosion and precipitation. The second is due to man-made conditions, where agriculture leveling and filling in connection with a golf course right before the avalanche contributed to the collapse. It is also the last filling NVE deem causal role.

 Deputy Ingunn Foss NPRA said earlier Friday that the study probably not going to have anything to say for when the bridge opened for traffic. Before cars left to run over the bridge on the E18 at Holmestrand must bridge deck is lifted up by customized jacks of 500 tons.

 Blames construction
