The mosque has hired security guards because several of the mosque users fear for safety, NRK reported.
– We have gone to the acquisition of the security guards in the mosque after feedback from users that we should strengthen surveillance. The fact that we have guards at the mosque gives us an extra sense of security, says chairman at the Islamic Cultural Centre, Najam Farhan.
The mosque has not received any direct threats, but want to prevent.
Security tightened after the terrorist attack on satire magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris.
– In Sweden, one hears that mosques being attacked and vandalism. User safety is important to us, and then it is better that we have visible guards in uniform than voluntary guards from the mosque. It gives a feeling that some suits, says Farhan. (© NTB) (© NTB)
