Amphetamine Use to endure hard work – BergensAvisen

Rusforsker Willy Pedersen at the University of Oslo uncovered drug use when he analyzed interviews with 55 Norwegian amphetamine users, writes Our Country.

– Many who work in occupations with hard work, tough chords with little structure around him, in the construction industry, transport, tilers and cleaning agencies, use amphetamines to deliver on time, keeping chord or working two shifts, says sociology professor, who do not hide that he was surprised found.

NOT SURPRISED

In Construction is not surprised that some construction workers using amphetamine.

– I do not know specific cases themselves. But it is clear it can be tempting to provide maximum and to work for example, both day and night shifts., Says Hans Jorgen Aase, project manager for construction of the new National Museum in Oslo, which Statsbygg driver.

In the survey recently discussed by Pedersen and his colleagues in an article in the journal Deviant Behaviour, there are three groups of amphetamine users who stand out.

SOCIAL DUMPING

The first is young men who are often out on the town and drinking hard, and that use amphetamines to keep the party going longer than it would have been natural.

The other men and some women in jobs that are little organized, often in small businesses, who work illegally or have multiple jobs.

The last one is people who use amphetamines to treat disease or ailments like ADHD and exhaustion.

In Federation sees a clear link between amphetamine use and companies who have not “orderly conditions.” The more social dumping, the more risk work that some people take drugs at work, says union secretary Steinar Krogstad.
