No injured after storm on the west coast – Aftenposten

– Police have received numerous messages on various supplied by high winds, but it’s not been reports that persons or animals should be injured, says Operations Ole Bjørn Harang in Sunnmøre police.

More lampposts are blown down. Windows are shattered and roof panels have loosened. By Color Line Stadium in Ålesund is part of the roof on the east side partially blown off, it writes Sunnmørsposten.



Previous storm did great damage

Extreme Weather Nina caused widespread power outages and significant damage around the country.

In Hordaland was around 1000 by BKK customers still without power Tuesday night after the storm “Nina” that ravaged west coast at the weekend. In all experienced nearly 170,000 people to lose power when extreme weather struck the southern Norway Saturday.



Thousands of damage messages

Insurers have received thousands of claims involving extreme weather Nina weekend. The insurance company Gjensidige estimates that reports of injuries to them will end at around 2000.

– Experience from previous storms of this strength suggests that it will take several days before we have a full overview, says CIO Christian Haraldsen Gjensidige.

Most damaging messages concerns homes and other buildings, which has received various injuries due to wind or water. Many messages apply tile or roofing sheets that are torn loose.
