(Dagbladet): Middle Halogaland police report at 15.34 for an explosion in a home in Kvæfjord.
Operations Kenneth Stræte in Middle Halogaland police told Dagbladet that a man is found dead on the spot. Paramedics worked first with this person on site. Later he was taken away in an ambulance. Police have not yet received feedback about the condition of the injured man.
– The house does not burn now, but we still do not know what happened there. There are studies. The fire department is on site and working. We’ll be back with more details when we know more, says Stræte.
– Powerful bang
Operations manager said that the explosion occurred in a private villa. Detached house situated in Borkenes, near Borkenes school.
– The message came from a neighbor who heard a loud bang from the house. When he saw over there so it completely black out the interior, said the fire chief Magne Brunes at the 110 call center in Salten, to Nordlys.no.
– Open flames
– It has been open flames in the house, but was not there when the fire brigade arrived at the scene. There is so much smoke that you can not see anything in the house, says Brunes. The fire department is now working to ventilate the house.
Police have cordoned off a large area around detached villa where the explosion should have occurred, and explains that there still may be an explosion. The nearest residences have been evacuated.
