PST will map the Norwegians' online activity – Dagbladet.no

PST-chief Alana Bjørnland will in the Nordic lawyer meeting on Friday to go out with the requirement that security must be allowed to identify all Norwegians activity on the Internet, type the class struggle.

Bjørnland requesting legislative changes that will make it possible to use so-called big data technology – huge amounts of data that are controlled by companies or government, and that can be analyzed using algorithms.

The purpose is to uncover patterns, trends and relationships – for example, individuals or groups who have a lot of contact, the use of specific keywords or groups repeatedly meet at specific locations.

Bjørnland says it is not inevitable that if stordatanalyse to be effective, you need intelligence retain information about the activities of innocent Norwegians.

Data’s Director Bjørn Erik Thon is concerned and believes that the security authorities in the United States should not be any example to PST in this area.

– Putting the whole community under investigation is quite different than investigating justified suspicions. It’s like fishing with purse seine instead of harpoons, says Thon.
