Romanian workers worked for 7 million hours – Aftenposten

The case came Arbeidstilsynet over almost by accident when an employee of the Authority as two workers who worked unsecured on a roof in Bergen, writes TV 2

After having contacted the Romanian employer and have received employment contracts and payslips showed that the Romanian telecom workers worked in Norway for 7 dollars and 50 cents an hour.

The Norwegian telecommunications company Netel account for much of the development of the telecommunications network for NetCom. They have a so-called enterprise contract with the Romanian company RCA, which has provided employment and contained wage and labor agreements with the Romanians who work in Norway.

Now Netel terminated the agreement with the Romanian company. NetCom says Netel now will ensure that workers receive payment of salaries corresponding Norwegian wage levels, for the time they have worked in Norway.

NetCom recognize that the matter is very harmful to the company’s reputation and that this should never have happened. CEO of NetCom, August Christian Johan Baumann says all suppliers now are double checked so this should be avoided in the future.
