KS hoping for new brokerage in school strike – Aftenposten

KS hoping for new brokerage in school strike – Aftenposten

– I assume that the Executive Board will help find a solution and that we may enter into new negotiations, said Head of QA Gunn- Marit Helgesen before she went in to meet the 14 other employer in the association’s executive board Tuesday afternoon.

Employer Organization KS has set four hours in the afternoon to discuss the teacher strike, which means that a large number of students got postponed school beginning this week. Teachers have announced escalation of the strike from Thursday.

Helgesen can not see the need to change dealers mandate.

– It is spacious enough, she said.

– Now we must be constructive and look for solutions.

When asked if she thinks that the dealers who have met the teachers’ unions have been constructive so far, she answers:

– Yes.

Provides up not working

She will not say whether that means the Union has behaved destructive.

But she confirmed that she was surprised last Thursday night, when the mediation failed and all the teachers’ unions left the Office of the mediator’s office.

Helgesen not give the impression that she will give up on all points to end the strike. When asked if she must have in place a new working agreement she answers clearly yes.

– We must have an agreement that regulates working hours.

She confirms not direct that a new agreement must involve more time bound for teachers.

KS leader rejects questions if they need help from the government. But Aftenposten know there was talk of a request from the government last week. There may be promises for education or teachers’ everyday life will be easier and less influenced by the control.

Do not think government solves the problem

– If KS waive the requirement for increased presence, we can sit down and talk again, says deputy Steffen Handal in the union.

– I see Helgesen says she has a plan. But it has not we seen anything.

He does not believe a request to the government to solve the problem.

– We must have a working agreement with KS and must be on its own, he said.

– But the government can help by removing the time-thieves and stop the bureaucratisation of the teaching profession. It can be a help.
