Police Academy: The police have charged guns in the holster – Aftenposten

Norwegian police are trained to take cock and pull a cartridge into the gun’s chamber before placing it in the holster, the newspaper said.

Superintendent Kai-Inge Schaathun Larsen at the Police Academy believes it takes a lot to fire the weapon in the holster, so a 24-year-old did at police headquarters in Stavanger on Tuesday.

– I do not anticipate that we going to see it again, although people should try. It is more likely that you break your finger if you try, says Larsen.

The Norwegian service weapon has no fuse switch, but a safety mechanism that together with the sheath shall ensure that the shot has not been fired without it being intentional.

Police Directorate has refused to say whether police weapon is loaded or not, but having said that they will consider changes in the instructions for the event. Rogaland Police have previously stated that the police officer did not violate the instruction during the incident.

Norwegian police have since last year been temporarily armed because of PST stricter threat assessment.
