Trøim and Midelfart sued by upset ex-maid in Miami – Dagbladet.no

Trøim and Midelfart sued by upset ex-maid in Miami – Dagbladet.no

MIAMI / OSLO (Dagbladet): In 2011 bought financial pair Celina Midelfart (41) and Tor Olav Trøim (51) dream house on Hibiscus Island in Miami. Now, the former maid, Saasha Rodriguez, sued them for breach of the American Working Environment Act. She believes she did not get paid for all the hours she worked, and that she was unfairly dismissed. Therefore she demands equivalent 720 000 million in unspecified damages, 1.44 million in specific loss and 27 000 legal fees, according to court documents Dagbladet has gained access to.

Friday also came a demand from her lawyer, Zandro E. Palma that Trøim, Midelfart and their employees imposed legal prohibition to seek her.

– Sensational requirements

– summons has no real substance. Miss Rodriguez was fully paid for the time she worked, and all her claims are refuted. It is special to be sued by a person claiming compensation for work she allegedly performed long before the house was purchased, and before I whatsoever had met her, says Trøim Dagbladet.

The couple does not deny that they are deeply frustrated of being caught in a bitter dispute in the American judiciary.

– Unfortunately, any person start a lawsuit and submit sensational claims. We are confident that the court will add facts to reason and reject the claim, saying Trøim about the lawsuit from Rodriguez, who has also been involved in two other lawsuits against other employers in 2013 and 2014.

– Fears for life

Friday sent domestic staff lawyer in a court document where he asks for a court injunction prohibiting Trøim, Midelfart and their employees to seek Rodriguez. He believes that they have driven a “relentless campaign” to influence and bribe her to withdraw the case.

– The plaintiff now fears for his life and the lives of their children, writes Palma.

– The accusations are unfounded and deliberately misleading. The defendants have not been in direct contact with the plaintiff, and she has not been harassed. We will give our full response to accusations to the court within a reasonable time, says Trøim and Midelfart lawyer, John Moore, at Pathman Lewis Dagbladet.

Neither Rodriguez or her lawyer want to comment Dagbladet, despite repeated inquiries .
