Norway’s largest youth party, AUF, sorry that they cover a twelve year old girl with promises of free school meals and extra sleep when they enlisted her.
AUF in Østfold has received much criticism in social media for the way they walked on to enlist the young girl.
She was, according to her mother contacted by an AUF member at the mall Torvbyen Fredrikstad just before Christmas, NRK. There she was asked if she wanted to sleep longer in the morning by getting later school start, and if she wanted free food at school. She also informed that it only costs 10 dollars to be AUF member, but that she had to sign there and then.
Her 14-year-old cousin should also have been tried enlisted with the same arguments. The problem is that you must be 15 years before without parental consent can join associations.
– I have a great sense of youth who engage politically, but not on the basis here, says the girl’s mother told NRK.
AUF has made contact with the girl’s family and written that they shall ensure that any such does not happen again, while the county manager Herman Høgby Robertsen says to NRK.
