Eric Jensen accused of gross corruption: Participated to hasjsmugling and received … – VG

Police manager Eric Jensen (58) was for years the police spearhead in the fight against organized crime. Now he is accused of gross corruption and complicity hasjsmugling.

58-year-old was on Monday informed the serious charges, which are taken out by order of the Director of Public Prosecutions – the nation’s top prosecutors.

– We have informed him that, and I will talk with him later today. He has people around him, fortunately. He has claimed his innocence from day one, and he does so still. With all due respect I think the indictment is quite fresh. There are obvious weaknesses in the case, says defender Arild Holden VG.

– What do you mean?

– It’s the heart of the matter, what is what he has done. What he has contributed to, that we have trouble seeing.

The defender believes the evidence halter, arguing there is very little in the over a thousand pages long explanation to Gjermund Cappelen that hold water.

– Tons

Holden, who is employed by the law firm Elden, said that the former police leader is accused of having received an amount of at least 2.1 million contribution to the importation of drugs.

Asked how much drug in question, answer Holden following:

– there is talk about tons.

the former police officer found himself Monday not in Oslo but in “safe environment” as Holden put it according to NTB.

the evidence

the Bureau has previously highlighted what they believe are the most important evidence against Jensen:

• Deposit account

early on in the investigation, it was shown that Jensen over a period of four years has inserted 303.576 million in an account he possessed. The contributions have been made in several places, and sometimes several times the same day. Bureau claims that two amounts were inserted after a meeting between Jensen and Cappelen.

in the time after the amount of more than 300,000 became known, the Bureau has overturned police manager’s finances and the amount can therefore be decreased or increased.

• monetary handover

In December 2013 were undercover police witnessed a monetary handover from Cappelen to Jensen. According to police leader was repayment of a loan in connection with a workshop bill. Cappelen has explained that there was money linked to marijuana business.

• Cash garage wall

When the property to Jensen Skarnes Hedmark was ransacked, investigators found 34,300 kroner behind panel wall inside his garage.

Jensen testified that this is money he had lying readily available should he suddenly suffered an acute threat, and had to escape.

• Paid not for refurbishment

in 2006, stood a shining wonderful and new bathroom clearly on the farm at Romerike in Akershus where Jensen previously lived. Renovation work is assessed to have cost 248,000 crowns.

In questioning Jensen explained that he also never paid a bill of 120,000 crowns, because he did not get hold of the relevant tradesman, a man who died a few years ago. Hashish Baron Cappelen for its part stated that it was he who paid for renovation work.

• SMS contact

There is seized 38 mobile phones and 39 SIM card in Cappelen. From this material NCIS managed to recreate nearly 1,500 text messages between him and Jensen.

In addition to short messages that should have been sent to schedule meetings, there are also messages that Cappelen argue about money.
