The police was notified around 12.30 Saturday that it had passed a huge avalanche at Ring water on Ringvassøya, located between Tromsø and Karlsøy.
– The detector had seen hunters in the area, therefore we called out resources , said operations Joran Bugge told NRK.
Police eventually had contact with people who had been in the area and shortly thereafter the area was cleared by police and helicopters. The search was then terminated.
– The helicopter searched the area so that it had gone five different landslides in the area, a quite big. It indicates that there is considerable avalanche danger in the mountains now, says Bugge.
