Insert municipal “asylum-guards” at Bærum school – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Next week it scheduled for completion a new reception center at Lysaker in Bærum municipality, which has caused some concern among residents in the area.

The municipality has therefore decided to deploy guards at an underpass at Lysaker elementary school, located just near the reception. The guards come from the municipal department of roads and traffic, writes Budstikka.

– It was the wish of the parents who attended an information meeting about the reception center to have an adult person at the underpass when children go to school. Then said the municipality that we must ensure security, that we pursue now, said Acting Superintendent Susanne Kaaløy in Bærum municipality Budstikka.

– Little information

The guards will stand by underpass at E18 in yellow Vests for half an hour in the morning, before students start school. In addition, Norwegian People’s Aid, operator of the facility responsible for its own security service there.

FAU leader Pia Almvang at Lysaker school is happy with the measure.

– There have been some insecurity, mostly due that there was very little notice. The process surrounding the reception went very quickly, and there was little information that reached the parents’ group, said FAU leader Pia Almvang at Lysaker school Dagbladet.

– Major changes

Asylum reception is planned for right up close to the 550 seats. It was supposed to be ready before Christmas but has been postponed for several weeks. According to plan, the first asylum seekers now move into the next week.

– Immediately arouses concern when it will happen so big changes in a small neighborhood like Stabekk, says Almvang.

She believes the information flow is now much better, and tomorrow the municipality shall hold new information meeting.

– It is very variable in extent and in what background the parents worry, but most people are reassured that the municipality has control. We asked questions about security most because there are big changes happening.

Will consider

– You’re not afraid that residents feel alienated?

– I hope by all means it’s not going happen. It is certainly not the intention of our site. But major changes can cause concern and sometimes fear, which it is important to take seriously, says Almvang.

– It will surely prove quickly whether this is appropriate to continue or not.

– The starting point is a concern from parents, now we consider how this initiative works. The intention is that we meet the concern that was expressed at the information meeting, said Superintendent Susanne Kaaløy to Budstikka.
