Alerts Arctic-cold rest of the winter – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Many people will have been joined by that it gets warmer from tomorrow.

Throughout Norway it will be a huge change in the weather that will last for about one week ahead.

For those looking forward to the mild weather, however, may be short-lived pleasure.

Long Meteorologist at StormGeo, Simon Jury, have seen the weather systems that hit Norway in February, and they show still cold.

– The most interesting thing is what happens in February. An arctic air outbreaks will cause it probably gets very cold and dry from about the second week in February. It will cause it gets much colder, probably as the last few weeks and if possible even colder. This cold can last out the winter, ie well in March, mostly in the country, says Jury Dagbladet.

Arctic-cold

The cold and dry weather is likely therefore to get back in February. Weather in Norway are largely at the mercy of the major weather systems out on the oceans and the poles. What happens at the North Pole is one of the reasons why the weatherman now think the cold will come to be.

– Polar Vortex is a large low pressure located in the atmosphere over the poles and operates the low pressure to the rest of the world, explains Jury.

When polarvirvlene is powerful, it keeps much of the cold arctic air trapped and sends jets and low pressure south. According to meteorologists’ warnings, however polarvirvlene be greatly weakened.

– When they collapse, it leads to weaker jet stream and less pressure. The cold pressures coming from the North Pole, and making sure we most likely get colder weather, says Jury.

About the cold weather in Norway comes directly from the Arctic where these cold systems hit Norway, is yet not known, but cold originally come from the north there is no doubt.

Meteorological Institute have similar forecasts, but guarantees that nothing so certainly will not happen until the first week in February.

– These are just statistical projections, and can turn the opposite way . If that happens, however, it will lead to cold and dry weather, said state meteorologist Eriksen.

Wide variations

Before any cold shock in February, there are large variations in temperature and mild weather on time in large parts of the country towards the end of this week.

– It gets hotter from Lindesnes in the south to Nordkapp in the north of tomorrow, says meteorologist Mariann Aabrekk at StormGeo Dagbladet.

The capital may for example wake 12-14 degrees below zero on Friday morning. Towards evening, the thermometer creep up toward zero degrees.

Because of the cold, stagnant air that is pressed down, it has been enormous local temperature variations in Norway, which has made it difficult for meteorologists to enroll temperatures. It can also join new weather this weekend.

– In Southern Norway becomes very rising temperatures. It is generally more wind, a little grayer and milder. It’s a big change in the weather waiting now into the weekend, said state meteorologist Bjart Eriksen told Dagbladet.

– In Northern Norway there will be varying weather conditions with residence and periods of snow or sleet. Coast of Western Norway are most susceptible to mild weather and wind. There it will be rainy and windy. Skiers across the country can enjoy a little milder temperatures but still good snow conditions, he says.
