Half of all NSB trains has the worst been delayed in recent days. – Dagsavisen

– On Tuesday afternoon we were down in 50 percent of punctuality, says Åge-Christoffer Lundeby, communications manager of passenger train.

In the morning hours yesterday lay punctuality and vaket around 60 percent, while the goal is punctuality at 90 percent.

Connection Issues

Both in eastern, southern and south-land, western and central Norway was partly many trains delayed yesterday. Only in Northern Norway, traffic mostly as planned.

Lundebyvannet explains the many delays with “very much infrastructure failures and power failure” in the cold, but it also has encountered errors on the trains because of the many cold ranks. Among other things, NSB had trouble getting connected trainsets together and apart. In many departures which usually run double set, this has led to that in place is run single set.

– When many have to stack up in less space, the station stays longer, says Lundebyvannet.

Lost stream

All arrivals happens more than three minutes and 59 seconds after the specified time, counted as delays, and “the second go very fast when many people going onto the trains,” says Lundebyvannet.

NSB has also struggled with other technical problems. Yesterday lost first one multiple units and then another, powering on Sørlandsbanen.

It was measured 26 degrees below zero where trains got stuck between Herefoss and Nelaug in Aust-Agder.

– In the cold drawing metal together and there was a leak in a valve to the current collector, so that it fell on the roof of the first train, and it loses power. The same happened with probably the second, telling Lundebyvannet.

The first train, which was heading from London to Oslo, was stuck a little before nine o’clock. The second train, which was sent to the site to assist, lost power about an hour and half later.

– We are now trying obtain a locomotive that can push trains into Herefoss, so we can get sent passengers from there by bus, stated Lundebyvannet when Dagsavisen talked with him.

This locomotive arrived at the scene just before 12.

– Extreme snowfalls

Pressevakt Jernbaneverket, Thor Erik sharpness, adding that even a violent snow in Trøndelag contributed to problems with train operations yesterday.

– Crews were out to remove snow, but nevertheless led to delays of five to 15 minutes, tells sharp.

This snow came in addition to the amount of snow that has fallen in recent days. For example, the Stjørdal 63 centimeters of snow in 48 hours, according to Adresseavisen.

– What do you think about punctuality at around 50 percent?

– It can happen in one day, but during of a week or month are generally most trains on schedule, match sharpness.
