Sentenced to two years in prison for bildrap the cyclist – NRK

22 year old Petter Omsland Nikolaisen was on a bike ride with friends when he was knocked down by 43-year-old who had crossed over into oncoming traffic.

Omsland Nikolaisen died in the accident and another cyclist was badly damaged .

the driver was sentenced to two and three months in prison for manslaughter and is deprived of driving license forever.



The fatal accident on Nannestad

  • Petter Omsland Nikolaisen was hit and killed on county road 176 at Gardermoen, 11 October 2014.

Defender of the convicted 43-year-old, Oscar Ihlebæk, says he has not had time talking to his client about the judgment.

– I’ve only had the opportunity to look at the judgment and not had opportunities so far to read the judgment terms.

– I have noted that the judgment is in accordance with the prosecutor’s assertion, beyond that I have no comments so far, says Ihlebæk.

he says that he and his client therefore must return to a possible appeal.

– we have 14 days us from today and then we’ll take the assessment as we get the time and opportunity to do so.

parents get replacement

43-year-old was also ordered to pay compensation to the bereaved parents by 200 000 each and 75 000 to each of the riders who survived .

In addition, parents were awarded compensation for loss of income to $ 175,000.

Lawyer for the bereaved parents and the injured riders who survived Christian Lundin, says his clients are satisfied that the 43-year-old now is doomed and that they are relieved to be awarded compensation.
