Listhaug reject proposals from Tybring- Pike – Romsdals Budstikke

Immigration and Inclusion Minister told Dagbladet that she maintains that asylum seekers should learn Norwegian.

– We are concerned that those who come to Norway, and will stay, will learn Norwegian and get themselves to work as quickly as possible. Language is an important prerequisite for being able to work within a variety of sectors, hence Norwegian knowledge important, says Listhaug.

The goal is to get Norwegian speaking asylum seekers to work as quickly as possible, she points out.

Tybring- Pike said Monday Dagbladet that Norway should not use resources to teach asylum seekers Norwegian, but rather focus on English.

– There is very little useful to learn Norwegian if you going back to Syria, therefore it is only natural that teaching runs in English, a language that can be used anywhere in the world, he said. (© NTB)
