18-year-old jailed for gang rape in Oslo – Aftenposten

police are investigating the serious assault since the summer, newspaper VG.

At the end of this week, the 18-year-old man of African origin arrested and charged with gang rape along with several others.

Assault in late July should have been going on for several hours.

18-year-old who was jailed Saturday, is charged under the severest punishment option in the rules of rape in criminal law. It has a maximum penalty of 21 years.

– He denies guilt by accusation, says lawyer Bjorn Aksel Henriksen, who did not wish to comment further.

The police was successful in four weeks custody with the letter and visitation. 18-year-old also received media ban for the same period.

– This is a very serious issue that we’ve been working on since the summer. It has been one of the highest priorities our cases, says manager Kari-Janne Lid by section for sexual crimes in Oslo Police District told VG.

She says police are working to apprehend the other persons they believe participated in the rape of the young girl.

Lawyer Gunhild Lærum is counsel for the girl, which is strongly affected by the assault. She says the client is relieved that police have arrested one person and he is imprisoned.
