Shifts 300

– Production on Åsgard A is closed and we are again with a basic manning of about 20 people, said spokesman Morten Eek Statoil.

From Statfjord A, B and C are approximately 220 people flown to outlying installations Gullfaks A and C, as well as a floatel (residential platform) Safe Scandinavia.

The group will also consider whether they move about 60 people from the gas platform Kristin in the Norwegian Sea.

In addition, bama population decreased by 40 on the Norne vessel which is just north of Asgard field.

Amplifier lifeboats

The reason for this move is according Eek an ongoing upgrading of lifeboats.

– We’re reinforcing freefall lifeboats on some installations on the NCS. This is lifeboats which are mounted in ramps and hanging at the side of the installations. They are designed to be released into the sea if in an emergency becomes necessary to evacuate this way. Most lifeboats are already amplified, but all is not finished yet. We consider that the boats there remains work is not used in the wave height (over five and up to ten feet) is now reported. It in no way any drama in that we reduce the workforce until Sunday, but a precautionary measure, said Eek.

Production is scheduled to resume as normal on all other installations than Asgard A, where oil production was paused Thursday.

– The crews who were going home have gone home as usual. Those who were going out to sea to start the job this weekend is being held back until the weather permits.
