– I have to constantly move forward. I stop for a second because someone will take a selfie, it’s done. When I stood for 20 minutes, says Barack Obama, alias Louis Ortiz to BT. Thursday wrote BT for an exclusive visit wandering around the streets of Bergen. Apparently.
“Bronx Obama” appears at BIFF this week. This is a film about the American dream – about an unemployed single father in the Bronx who achieve stardom in record time because he resembles President. Now traveling Ortiz around the world – and he has met the Dalai Lama and other world stops.
– Junior equal
– I discovered in 2008, when Obama was still a senator, I under his beard and hair was almost identical with him. After the presidential elections life took a new turn. Now I imagine a long life in the entertainment industry, says Ortiz.
Although reluctant Bergen, and tourists are more easily starstruck. When a security guard comes cyclists passing by, stop and ask for a selfie, it’s done. One after the other going away on Torgallmenningen, for a selfie, a photo or just to say hello.
In BERGEN: Barack Obama mimics Louis Ortiz walked around the Torgallmenningen morning.
This has been Ortiz thousands of times. He is posing in a majestic position, and it is difficult to distinguish between original and copy a few seconds.
– It’s 4 to 5 people in the USA who live professionally by imitating Obama in the United States. I am undoubtedly the most similar. I am also the genuine article. Nothing is fake, even the ears, Ortiz says confidently.
He gets an offer to do feature films, TV series, commercials, events, meetings and the like. Ortiz has also been visiting the White House.
– We were there as guests. And met people from the staff to Obama. They were in the jocular corner and drew Ortiz in on some meetings in the White House. As soon as he opened the door and showed his face, went all out. They were sure it was the President himself, says the film’s director, Ryan Murdock – who followed Ortiz during the campaign for Obama in 2012.
– He and other imitators had their own parallel campaigns. We met often he resembled most of Mitt Romney. And we were all trained by him who had “played” Bill Clinton for 25 years and who could every trick in the book, says the director.
Will meet Obama
film will be shown on Showtime in the United States next month. In Norway it is VGTV who bought the rights.
– In the United States people love this circus. But it can be a tough job. For you are all the time depending on what happens in the political arena, says Murdock.
– I do not fear life after the next presidential election. I actually think I will get a lot more work when Obama goes off. He is a historic lighthouse – as the first black president, says Ortiz.
If he wants to meet Obama again? Yes.
– Imagine if I drop him at the office. Obama says, “You’re actually not that different from me.” I replies, “You are not so different from me.” It can become the selfie, smiling Ortiz.
