Man in 20s climbed on trains – died in the high voltage accident – VG

A man in his 20s died early Sunday after climbing on a train standing on railway lines at Moelv in Hedmark. The young man was a student at Arbeiderbevegelsens folk in Ringsaker.

The man, who was a student at the folk high school in Ringsaker and early 20s, said to have come down a high-voltage wire, police said.

Time 3:37 police got the message that three youths climbed on the train set, which is used to repair the tracks.

one of them got in his high-voltage, and was eventually declared dead at the scene by a doctor. The other two were not physically harmed.

– This is a sad day for both the school and everyone connected to the school. I emphasize to support and be present for those who need it, says Tomasgaard VG.

He is part of the LO leadership, and sat in the car from Oslo and drove to Ringsaker Sunday morning.

According Tomasgaard were the other two who were with the victim – students at the folk high school. The school is characterized by a very close and good environment with around 70 students.



Watchman onsite

Police Superintendent Tor Strandvik says the 300 meter long train was parked between Rudshøgda and Moelv, not too far from the folk high school.

– Court Service, which performs maintenance for Jernbaneverket, has had a watchman. He was in the area but not exactly where the climbing on trains took place early Sunday. He notified about the incident when he discovered what had happened, saying Strandvik VG.

He considers such events as difficult to hedge against.

National Rail currently operates with an extensive maintenance work on Dovrebanen between Hamar and Lillehammer. Pessevakt Inge Hjertaas reaffirm to VG that it is rolling stock which is used for this, which is at Moelv the weekend.

– It is tragic that something like that will happen. Thoughts are with the families. This is the kind events that should not happen, says Hjertaas VG on behalf of Jernbaneverket.
