Police finished Vålnes-search – Alerts new interrogation – VG

Tromso (AP) The search for Per Vålnes is closed – without the allegedly killed 50-year-old is found. Now police make new questioning in the case.

Thursday morning told VG that police have finished their work on Vollan Gjestestue in Balsfjord.

The clock 11:15 confirmed police this in a press release, and that search has been fruitless.

The search was completed Wednesday, telling region sheriff in Bardu, Målselv and Balsfjord, Andreas Nilsen VG.

– We course disappointed. We had a sincere hope to make findings from the information we had, says Nilsen.

It does not mean that the three-year investigation terminated immediately. Police has new, interesting tips in the past.

– We have people we must interrogate and in addition, we are considering going into our list Witnesses and see if there is someone we should talk again, says Nilsen.

This work hope the sheriff to be finished in April, before the case is forwarded for prosecution.

Animals operation

Since November police using local contractors investigated whether the three murder accused, Vålnes’ former partner (42), her new roommate (41) and a friend of the couple (43), might have hidden the remains of Vålnes under or in soils around the building.

The work has included demolition and suctioning soils. Now built rebuilt.

– The contractor continues now with reconstruction. This work will hopefully be completed in June, says Nilsen.

The total price tag query is not clear, but police have not hidden the fact that it will be expensive.

TV2 reported Tuesday that charges should have reached over 30 million.

Nilsen says to VG Thursday that it is currently påbeløpt over nine million in costs, but that sum will increase.

Worked at guest room

Police had information that Vålnes could be hidden in the gravel under an annex to the guest room. The groundwork for the extension occurred at the same time as Vålnes disappeared in 2011.

Two of the three murder accused was then hired by the guest room.

When the search began, said police that it was more than a 50 percent chance of discovery. In early February said the police that it was less likely with a discovery.

So now, police hope to find Vålnes on Vollan, after police sight, out.

Thus says police still without the most important piece in the murder case – a corpse. Police have neither a safe venue that connects the three murder accused to a homicide action.

Defender: – Should shelved

Police through its extensive investigation since it was turned homicide alarm spring of 2012 received more information about the Vålnes’ remains hidden in masses under the building, and it has previously been made search with GPR.

Some of the information police received which indicated Vollan Gjestestue, are statements from a witness with an extensive criminal past behind him. He is sentenced to several years in prison for fraud and also pimping.

– The last demolition of Vollan Gjestestue because a witness had understood my client so that he had helped to hide a corpse in the guest room. Police chief witness is one of the biggest cheaters. I asked early on a judicial examination of the witness. This was denied by the police. If the police had complied wanted, then you would be well have saved tens of million, says Christian Wiig, defending 43-year-old.

– We could not refrain from carrying search. We did a thorough examination of the information we had and considered them reliable, like court. This was something that had to be done to clarify the question of respect for all parties. But it is obvious that it was not hold in the information we received yet, said sheriff Andreas Nilsen.

Christian Wiig believes prosecutors can not prosecute without discovery.

– Now the case should be dismissed as soon as possible, says Wiig VG.

Criticising the police’s use of criminal sources

Defender Morten Furuholmen believes police lack findings strengthens the case for his client (41).

– This operation, which has been very extensive and expensive, has in reality strengthened my client’s explanation that he has not killed any person and dumped competent in the masses under guest room, Furuholmen says.

He criticizes police use of sources.

– This operation is a final confirmation that the police have dealt with very uncertain sources and built case on information from prisoners criminals, as one can easily see for himself wanted to get better prison conditions or give themselves other benefits to cooperate with the police, says Furuholmen, stressing that it is his own views.

– Police have had a low threshold to receive information from criminals, which has governed the investigation largely led and that has spent enormous sums based on misinformation, Furuholmen says.

– Large strain

– Police have by passed many traces in the case, and this track was considered so secure that they were willing to to use large resources. When it leads to it not being made findings weaken the quality of police information, says Schumann Hansen told VG.

He says that his client has had it tough .

– A long investigation has been a particularly great strain on my client, and of course it’s good that it may look as if the investigation can go towards the end, says Schumann Hansen.

Sister wants trial

One of Per Vålnes’ sisters, Heidi Molstad Andresen, however, want the case being tried in court.

– A dismissal the worst that can happen. Police have been bell clear that they possess information linking the accused to the murder. About the police have said is correct, and the case is still being dismissed because it lacks evidence that keeps in a criminal case, can in reality risk that killers go free. It will therefore be in everyone’s interest that the case comes before a court, so that you get access to the information police say they are sitting on, she says to VG.

Molstad Andresen think it is wrong to criticize the police for having conducted the search. She reminds us that a finding of lack of brother does not mean that a murder has taken place.

– In light of other cases where the police have not done their job, it is strange that the police here almost becomes criticized having done too much. They have since the beginning been clear that they were not confident about Per felt under guest living room, but that they had information indicating that they could not leave to look, she says.

Tried killed earlier

Per Vålnes was reported missing by his partner on 1 December 2011. Police believe Vålnes was killed in connection with or shortly after his own 50th birthday on home on Sagelva in Balsfjord, half mil away Vollan Gjestestue, the night of 27 November 2011.

A lot of suspicion against his former cohabitant is based on that she should have asked for help to take Vålnes killed, and police believe that she has tried to kill him earlier.

The accused was released in December 2013, but is still charged with premeditated murder or complicity this. All three denied having anything with a murder to do. They were imprisoned for thirteen months.
