The young Russian girl who was hospitalized with contagious … – Calling Blad

On Wednesday morning was infection control Einar Sandberg at the Academy high school, where the girl is a student, to inform students about the disease and what they can do to avoid becoming infected.

The general manager of emergency in Drammen, Per Magne Mikaelsen, said that about 100 Russians have visited emergency room for check in during the night and morning. All who enter are checked.

– Of these, 43 were examined and given a dose of antibiotics based on whether they have been in close contact with the infected person. Two placed with suspected infection after having had close contact, but here are no answers yet, said Mikaelsen.

It is not known which school the other entered the Russians and the under consideration for admission comes from.

Treatment

In a press release Tuesday wrote emergency that anyone who has been in close contact with the owner must have preventive antibiotic treatment.

– With close contact means those who have drunk from the same glass / bottle or kissed. Members of household should also be treated, type emergency.
Mikaelsen says to dt.no that meningitis is a highly contagious disease, but that so far not revealed any further infection.

– We do not know how the person has been infected yet, he said.



Symptoms

Symptoms of meningitis are high fever, included general condition, groggy consciousness, headaches, neck and back stiffness, nausea, vomiting, photophobia and seizures.

– Do you get any of these symptoms, or in doubt, we recommend that you contact the emergency in order to clarify the situation, encourage Mikaelsen.

Very worried

The general manager of the Academy Norway AS, Kjetil Eide, confirms that the student who is infected is a student at the Academy in Drammen.

– We have unfortunately gotten know that it is one of our pupils who are infected. What I can say now is that we are very concerned about the pupil, says Eide.

The school has 300 pupils. Eide said Tuesday evening that they have received information that other students will be affected.

– We have informed our pupils that those who have been in close contact with the student who is infected, you need an emergency room. Also those who have symptoms should contact emergency, says Eide.

The school has provided students with information about the situation based on information from Drammen municipality.



Students at the Academy are nervous

Students at the Academy High School is concerned and nervous after that a Russian girl is Alvo ill with meningitis.

Frida Bryn and Veronica Hovegen, both Russians this year, think it is very uncomfortable that a Russian at school are sick with meningitis.

On Wednesday morning they were both with the open meeting in the school auditorium, when infection control physician Einar Sandberg informed around 115 Russian at school about the disease and how the Russians can best protect themselves against it.

Nervous

Both Frida and Veronica have vaccinated against meningitis.

– One is the very nervous when stuff like this happens. I have vaccinated me, but you do not know if others have done it, so it’s a worry factor, says Frida Bryn.

Her friend Veronica should be included in one Russian hits.

– It is very serious when stuff like this happens. I find that not everyone understood the seriousness before this now has hit us, and it is sad to see that many are afraid now, says Veronica.



Winter Park this weekend

The rector of the Academy vgs Hilde Dramdal says school now working on putting out information to both pupils and parents.

– We do the best we can to get information out to students. Clearly students are nervous. We go into a weekend with Russian hits in Winter Park, and it is important that all pupils receive this information.

Dramdal states that teaching at the school will go as scheduled on Wednesday.
