The matter is updated

A piece in front of him sat Tiril Alette Huser Wave (11) and her friend Sara Christiane Holmedahl Sandmark (13) and drove the same direction in a carriage behind a pony.

Lacking an answer

Girls survivors still have not received an answer to how this could happen. What they do know is that 48-year-old ran into the girls. The accident was fierce. The two girls suffered extensive injuries, including head. Both died the next day.

Police Attorney Kare Kalvå said in court Friday that 48-year-old drove straight into the horse carriage.

Remembers nothing

48-year-old explained that he does not remember anything from the accident. It has previously emerged that the police have not found anything to suggest that 48-year-old used his cell phone it happened.

When the trial started in Lower Romerike today responded 48-year-old that he does not acknowledge guilt.

– The day and two to three weeks afterwards is a strangely been torn away. I can not explain hovrdan it happened. Unfortunately. But I have some theories, then, said 48-year-old when he began his explanation.

– He is in despair

– My client is crushed by this matter. We can well understand that the bereaved are angry that the defendant does not acknowledge guilt. The defendant is in despair because he can not remember, there is no attempt to evade responsibility. He has tried to find answers to what may have happened, it could have led to confounding what he remembers and what he has thought, said defender Gunhild Lærum.

A wound in the village

The fatality has been an open wound in the community. People who live in the area know both the defendant and the bereaved. Everyone feels sympathy with the bereaved, but many also feel sympathy with 48-year-old.

Spectators in the courtroom is divided so that friends of the bereaved are placed on one side, while friends of the defendant sitting on the opposite side .

The parents of girls are clearly marked. When the prosecutor had his keynote speech and affected what happened to the girls and the damage they suffered, it was obvious extra difficult.

Rally Driver

– I constantly try to produce anything but I find it not, says the defendant. He runs a garage five minutes from the accident site and have run the stretch many times.

The prosecutor pointed out that 48-year-old has participated in many rally. He wonders if this should have done that he could read the traffic better than many others.
– It ails me most, answer the defendant.

Remember earlier collisions

The defendant explains that he has been involved in two major collisions – rollovers by car – but that he remembers everything from this. Prosecutor emphasizes that man is examined by a doctor, who has not found anything wrong with him.

– If I could say what has happened, there had been so lovely to me. Because then I could defended me, answer the 48 year old.

He said that the day before the accident discussed petit mal with an acquaintance. This is brief epileptic seizures which especially occurs in childhood and adolescence and usually disappears later in life, according to the medical definition.

Questioning: Should overtake

Defender Gunhild Lærum acquires questioning. She enters an interrogation made by the accused immediately after the accident, a so-called field interrogation. The man does not remember any of this.

In this explanation says the man that he was about to overtake a horse carriage, but that he interrupted this then there came a car opposite. Now the court says he – having seen the place – never would have tried overtaking there.

Explained in March

About two months after the fatal accident, in March 2014, was 48-year-old with a reconstruction of an accident. Then he gave an explanation that there was drizzle in the air when the accident occurred, and that as usual is very smooth then.

He explains that there probably were things he had learned from others that he had talked to. Although he remembered not.
