70 students evacuated from leirskole Valdres – Aftenposten

97 schoolchildren and three teachers had to be evacuated from a school camp in Valdres after it caught fire in the camp school.

Police got into message about the fire just after the clock 23.

– Students and teachers evacuated to Tyinkrysset mountain lodge, which is nearby. We have not yet received any notification of casualties, said operations Trond shield Vestoppland police.



Seven to hospital

7 of the evacuees were sent to Laerdal hospital for treatment after fire. Six of them were sent to hospital with a minibus, while one person was transported by abulanse. All were ambulatory at the were evacuated from the camp school, but they must have breathed in smoke and will therefore be checked for cairn injuries, police said. They had at 1:00 o’clock Tuesday night not aware of how severe smoke damage possibly was.



Each evacuated

– All have been evacuated to a lodge which is only 500-600 meters away says operator Jan Olav Bredesen of Vestoppland police Aftenposten.

According to the reports the police have got good fire department is on site so are school camp ablaze.

– There is a kjempebål

It looked at midnight seems that the large school camp building with room for 100 overnight guests would be lost.

– There is a kjempebål. The whole camp school burner and building will probably be lost, says Hallgeir Opdal, general manager at Tyinkrysset mountain lodge, phone Aftenposten.

He says he was called by the police at 23.30 o’clock and was told that Danish schoolchildren and their teachers had to be evacuated to Tyinkrysset mountain lodge.

Opdal says none of them have been evacuated have been able to explain why it started to burn.
