Police fired warning shots after stabbing in Trondheim – Aftenposten

The police in South Trøndelag via Twitter.

The perpetrator was arrested shortly after, but he threatened police patrols ahead and therefore that they felt obliged to fire a warning shot.

Alen Bakous tells that there is confusion in the market square in Trondheim.

Witness: – Many around me were screaming

Maria Bordahl was on bric when a person was stabbed. She was a witness to one man was arrested after the stabbing.

– The one policeman had guns and tear gas, while the other had baton. They arrested the man, says Maria Bordahl who witnessed the arrest.

Police wrote on Twitter that they had to fire a warning shot when a man was arrested. Injuries to the person who was stabbed is currently unknown.

Bordahl remained calm during the arrest.

– There were many around me who screamed and was worried, she said.

She praises police for how they handled the situation.

– They gained control over both the man and looked after so others approached him, saying Bordahl.

– A lady dropped

Maiken Pedersen and Esten Grøtte Hoffmann set at McDonalds when they became aware of an incident that happened at the benches by bank Nordea bric.

Pepper Spray and police dog

Thorstein Krane jobs at the Market Square. He and a colleague had lunch break and sat and drank coffee when knife drama stood fully in Trondheim.

– We heard a wonderful smell. When we looked out the windows we saw a crowd that sprang toward Our Lady Church. We heard someone yell, said Krane.

Krane and his colleagues ran to the balcony to get a better overview of the situation.

– Then we saw a person who was surrounded by police officers at the Market Square. They sprayed him with pepper spray in the face, but he did not give up. He fought back for at least 40 seconds. Police also used batons, but he did not give up. It was not until a dog managed to tackle the man on the ground that the police took control of him, telling Krane.



Scary

He says that it took some time before it dawned on them what had happened.

– We did not think that it was so serious, we did not really know what happened, said Krane.

When they saw a person lying with healthcare around him realized the seriousness.

– The competent bled considerably. We were obviously alarmed. It is unusual that these things happen in Trondheim, said Krane.
