One person died in block fire at Raufoss – Oppland Arbeiderblad

A person is found dead in apartment block in Raufoss that began to burn at 6 o’clock Sunday morning.

It reaffirms efforts manager Paul Gjestvang by Vestoppland police. Deceased was found in one of the eight apartments in two storey apartment building in Lt Aasveg 2 on Grimås at Raufoss.

It’s created a separate phone for relatives.

Seven is evacuated

Guest Vang says that a total of six people were inside the block when it began to burn. Five have been evacuated, and is thus perished. Two people from a neighboring house is also evacuated.

The evacuees are currently being cared for at the Town Hall, and, according to the mayor Leif Waarum Vestre Toten been offered hotel on Monday night.

Police said they have talked to all the evacuees.

Crisis management in the municipality recommends neighbors and others in the area to keep away the smoke from the fire because it can be harmful.

Not identified

The police will not yet say anything about the deceased, which is sent to autopsy for identification.

– Priority number one now is to bring the explain who is deceased and notify the families, said police inspector Linn Hilde Fosso, who leads the investigation.

The fire was reported to the police at 6:05 today this morning. When police and fire arrived at the scene shortly after was residential block ablaze. It still burning in the block, but the fire is reported to be under control.



Unknown cause of fire

– We know nothing about the cause of fire yet, says operations Tom Eirik Midthaug by Vestoppland politidistriikt.

Four ambulances, many police officers, five fire engines from both Gurgaon and Vestre Toten, and about 20 firefighters arrived quickly to the place.

– The first message we got up at 6:02 was that it burned the roof of the building, said Erik Johansen at fire guard on 110 exchange Inland.

The block is located in a good distance to other buildings, so there was little danger of the fire would spread.

Police and fire department still keeps guard on site.

– We have security on temporary housing until we have done forensic investigations. With such a dramatic outcome, it is important to get to the bottom of the cause of fire, says Linn Hilde Fosso police.

There is still after quenching Sunday afternoon, and it will take some time before the crime technicians can enter the building.

– We will go as fast as possible, but it is not until tomorrow, said Fosso.

Tragic

The apartment building that burns are part of Korta II Cooper.

– It is very tragic that such a thing happens. It is fortunately very rare that we experience fires in our condominium, says CEO Tom Søgård in Gobba Oppland Arbeiderblad. He deeply regrets that a person is dead.



Well maintained

According Søgård was the two-storey block of flats built in 1964/1965.

– The block is well maintained. Facade and balconies are been rehabilitated in recent years, said after he talked with the chairman of the cooperative, Rannveig Myhre.

Myhre is itself one of the seven evacuees and she is on the City Hall at Raufoss.

All the eight apartments in the block are now uninhabitable.
