Norwegian strike continues after mediation broke down – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): After about 16 hours at the negotiating table broke mediation between airlines and pilots together at 5:30 o’clock Saturday.

This means that the strike continues.

It was the national mediator Nils Dalseide who gave notice of the breach just before half past five, NTB.

– The parties have announced that they stand by their offers that are incompatible with each other and that there are no grounds to get an interim solution . Then we had to conclude that further mediation is not likely to lead to an amicable solution as an alternative to a conflict, says Nils Dalseide.

There may be new meetings already Saturday unless this is agreed on present time.

– Only takes

It was a very long night for both parties and Parat leader Hans Erik Skjæggerud arrived premises around the clock 02.30. For three o’clock it was served pizza and soda.

– We have moved much since the previous round at many different points. Even what has been the most important for us – to get a collective agreement with the parent company. There we have presented alternatives means that this lapse, and that we do require to get a necessary bond to the company, but that it should limit the company’s needs, but help to ensure our members’ jobs, says Parat leader.

Halvor Vatnar, head of Norwegian Pilot Union (NPU), it says under the voluntary negotiations Friday and Saturday night were led more real negotiations than when the parties parted a week ago.

Vatnar argues, however, that the company is riding principles and management does not care about cost only they are allowed to crush tariff cooperation between the pilots.

– We have given in previous calls and we have given more in these last negotiations, including through greater flexibility and elimination of compensations. Previously we have pension and insurance in the pot. The problem is that the employer only takes without giving anything back, says Halvor Vatnar, head of Norwegian Pilot Union (NPU) said.

The pilots let according Vatnar forward a proposal for a comprehensive solution they think overall would save the company tens of millions of dollars.

– Disappointed

English believe they stacte far in the negotiations.

– We are very disappointed that we did not managed to come to an agreement. And we are extremely disappointed considering those customers who currently also being affected by the strike, which then of course continue, says communications manager Anne-Sissel Skånvik in English.

– We have put a lot of table, we have stretched us very far. We have also given all 700 pilots in Scandinavia a position guaranteed so they should be completely confident in their jobs, she adds.

According NTB atmosphere was very badly toward breakup after 5 o’clock at dawn Saturday morning.
