– I am glad that Fett campaign has received so much attention. We have come a long way when it comes to gender equality in Norway today, but these strong stories show that we still have a way to go when it comes to attitudes, writes children, Equality and Social Inclusion Minister Solveig Horne (FRP) in an e-mail NRK.
The last few days have countless Norwegian women have taken the magazine from the mouth and shared their experiences of abuse, harassment and discrimination in everyday life under #jegharopplevd.
After the debate editor Charlotte Myrbråten in the feminist periodical Fett started emneknaggen on Twitter Wednesday, it has come around 13,000 twitter messages.
Calling on the authorities to do something
Equality Ombudsman Sunniva Ørstavik came up and challenged the authorities to come on path with concrete measures to prevent UNCULTURE which women are subjected.
– No one’s being subjected to discrimination, harassment and violence, writes Horne.
She says the bourgeois government takes all forms of discrimination seriously.
– We have also provided support for the campaign Stop hatprat online, and the Prime Minister and I have had several meetings with organizations and individuals about hate speech. Including an input meeting in Prime Minister residence in the fall, which gave us many good suggestions as we now move forward with.
Laws presenting equality message before summer
According to Horne will she presenting an equality message before summer where both violence and sexual harassment are among the topics that will be affected.
– The message will have a pervasive male perspective, she writes, before she adds:
– I want to make today’s protection against discrimination even better and have started work on a new joint Equality and non-discrimination law. The law should broad public consultations during 2015.
