Explosion at the University of Tromso – Aftenposten

Tuesday morning it was full turnout University of Tromsø in connection with an explosion.

– There was an explosion in a transformer in connection with work on a new building on campus. The current was switched off, but when it was reconnected, then the explosion occurred, said operations Roy Tore Meyer in Troms police.

There should have been an explosion in a transformer station at a new building.

No person shall be hurt, but personnel are evacuated from the area informs Troms Police.

Meyer says that everyone who worked with the construction of the new building was evacuated, but no one was injured in the explosion.

– The fire department is working on site, but we have not received notification of open flames, says Meyer.

Police were alerted to the explosion at 9:03.

– It has been an electrical discharge that has led to a fairly small explosion. There was a small fire, but they keep on with venting now, says operations Randi Johansen at 110 exchange in Troms Nordlys.
