Stabbing in Trondheim – fired warning shots – VG

TRONDHEIM (AP) Police in Oslo fired warning shots in connection with an arrest of a man who threatened them after a stabbing in Trondheim.

Police in Sor-Trondelag incident occurred at Trondheim Torg.

– Two people are stabbed outdoors, one lady and one man, they are driven to St. Olav. A person is arrested, presumably perpetrator, says police efforts leader, Jomar Sjøhagen to VG reporter on site.

He added that the police have not yet overview of how severe the damage is.

– In connection with the arrest of the suspects, there arose a threat situation, which meant that police fired a warning shot.

Police now working to secure witnesses to the incident.

Sacrifice even called the police

Police in Sor-Trondelag says to VG that the two victims is a woman in their 40s and a man in their 50s. Police received many inquiries about what happened, including from the woman herself.

– The clock 15.23 we received a call from a lady who said that she had been stabbed. Several people also reported in about the same had happened at Trondheim Torg, says operations Bjorn Handegard in Sør-Trøndelag Police VG.

The reason for the incident is currently unknown, but police expect to conduct interrogation of the victims in the case when it is possible.

It was according Handegard witnesses on site who led police to the alleged perpetrator, a man in his 20s.

Used baton and pepper spray

– A witness pointed out a person that was interesting for one of the patrols. The individual was called by the police and it turned out that he had a knife. The officer felt the situation so that it was adequate to notify with a shot in the air to get the man to change behavior.

A short time later, the man was arrested. Handegard reports that police also used truncheons and pepper spray during the arrest.

The man is now being prepared for a doctor who will consider whether he should coercively placed or detained.



Witnesses saw woman fall about

– Suddenly we see a lady SMO fall down on the ground, and a boy running with a knife in his hand. There is blood everywhere, so I ran over to help the lady says Taher VG.

He describes the incident as shocking.

– I thought ‘Oh, this happens really in Trondheim. There were lots of blood, and then the police came and fired warning shots. It was shocking, he said.

According to Taher led them to that people moved away, and the police could arrest the perpetrator.

He says the police sprayed with pepper spray during the arrest.

Two separate other people who witnessed the dramatic situation reviewing the incident as “frightening”.

– There was a lady who fell on the ground. It looked like she bled from the ear, but we do not know how badly injured she was, said two witnesses Adresseavisa.



Chaos reigned

The whole square in Trondheim is shut in addition to an area north-east of the square. There is also installed a police car. When VG came to the place drove an ambulance away from the area.

According to eyewitnesses VG spoke with was chaotic. Up to six uniformed police cars arrived at the site the square which is the center of Trondheim.

Norwegian Bureau for the Investigation of Police Affairs is according Sjøhagen routinely notified of the incident.
