Serious helicopter accidents in Norway – NRK

14. January 2014 Sollihøgda

Two people were killed when a helicopter of the type EC-135 from the Norwegian Air Ambulance crashed on E16 by Sønsterud Tunnel near Sollihøgda Buskerud 14 January 2014.

The helicopter hit a power line, and failed in relatively low altitude.

2. July 2014 – Man jumped out of the helicopter in the North Sea

2. July 2014 jumped a 37 year old man out of a helicopter when he was flown from Troll A to a doctor on land.

11. January 2012 Mosjoen

Two people died in 2012 after a helicopter crashed east of Mosjoen under collection of reindeer. There should have been a smaller helicopter category Robinson that crashed, domiciled in Sweden. A Swede and a Norwegian was killed in the accident.



When rescue crews arrived at the helicopter that crashed in Mosjoen in 2012 took the reindeer owner, who was a passenger on board, and the Swedish pilot perished.

4 . July 2011 Hardanger

24. May 2011 Grane

24. May 2011 crashed a helicopter in Autumn Reis Valley in Nordland municipality Grane.

The two men aboard drove maintenance work at a high tension towers when the helicopter suddenly crashed to the ground. Both were injured in the crash, one of them seriously.

The man who was in his 40s had fractures of the face and back. Statnett launched an internal investigation after the accident.

27. January 2010 Horten

27. January 2010 crashed a helicopter with four people in the sea off Horten. All four on board were killed in the accident.

There were two helicopters of the Robinson R-44 Astro flying in formation. One of the helicopters lost gradually raised from 180 meters altitude and crashed into the icy fjord.

According to VG was heavy loads and low altitude cause of the helicopter accident.

24. September 2009 Eggemoen military camp

24. September 2009, the man with horror when the helicopter he was in crashed at Eggemoen military camp.

March 2008 Svalbard

Three people died and two were seriously injured when a russian helicopter crashed on Svalbard in March 2008.

the helicopter should have been taken by a powerful blast and thrown into the hangar wall. The accident happened just a few meters above the ground.

Mi8 helicopter was coming in for a landing on the helipad at the Herald at Barentsburg when the accident happened.

In all there were nine people on board helicopter.

29. October 2007 Rudskogen in Rakkestad

29. October 2007 crashed a helicopter on Rudskogen Motor Centre in Rakkestad.

The helicopter crashed into the cab of a tanker that was loaded with 7,000 gallons of diesel fuel.

Three people were aboard the helicopter, but no one was seriously injured in the accident.

september 2006 Ringheim Voss

Two people were killed when a helicopter crashed just off several residences on Voss in september 2006.

2005 Bærum

14. December 2000 Valdresflya

A Swedish man was killed in a helicopter crash on Valdresflya Oppland.

North Sea

There have been several serious helicopter accidents in the North Sea.

  • 12 people were killed after a helicopter crash on Helgelandskysten 8 november 1997.
  • in the 1970s, killed 34 people in three accidents involving Sikorsky helicopters. 9. July 1973 had a helicopter with 17 people made an emergency landing on the way from the drilling rig Gulftide to Stavanger. Four of the 17 on board were killed, according to NTB.
  • 23. November 1977 killed all 12 people on board when a helicopter went into the sea en route from Stavanger to Ekofisk field. The accident was described as a mystery, but Air Crash Investigation believed that the plane could have collided with a large bird.
  • Half a year later, 26 June 1978, killed all 18 aboard a Sikorsky helicopter from Helicopter Service that crashed 87 nautical mil northwest of Bergen. 13 of the victims were Norwegians. The cause of the accident was likely that a main rotor blade came loose from its attachment in the rotor head, said Air Crash Investigation.
