Irene Halvorsen (45) has been in Dagsavisen in close eleven years – the last five years she has been society editor and one of the paper’s most prominent commentators.
Now she is ready for a new challenge.
– I can not wait to pounce on the job as editor in chief Nationen, a newspaper that is perfectly positioned for the green shift. Where we live, how we live and what we live by is important for all of Norway – not just for today’s readers of Nationen, says Irene Halvorsen.
The aim is to strengthen the newspaper’s position in the public sphere.
– Nationen will continue to be the main newspaper for news and reports from and about agriculture and about the EU and EEA matters. Moreover, the newspaper take a stronger position in the public sphere. It’s a fantastic challenge, says the new chief editor.
Chief Editor and CEO Eirik Hoff Lysholm Dagsavisen looking forward to working with Halvorsen as editor in chief Nationen.
– I think it’s fun and natural for key employees in Dagsavisen get good jobs in other newspapers. Nationen get a chief editor who can the political Norway and challenges to meaningful newspapers well. In Dagsavisen she has in recent years been involved in a major turnaround where we have gone from being a condemned newspaper with 24 million deficit in 2009 to that in 2015 delivered surplus with a total of eleven news channels for our journalism. I’m sure Irene takes the same stand-at-will into his new editorial and look forward to working with her as Nationen-editor in all the important issues our two newspapers have in common, says Eirik Hoff Lysholm.

Lysholm believes Nationen with Irene Halvorsen will get an executive editor with a clear voice.

Norwegian food policy and the question of who will own Norway, will undoubtedly have a clear voice in Irene Halvorsen Nationen editor. Chairman of AS Nationen Johnny Odegaard think Irene Halvorsen be a good voice for the districts Norway.
– I am confident that Irene Halvorsen will continue Nationen efforts to demonstrate why agriculture, food production and settlement in the country affects us all. She will strengthen Nationen, says chairman Johnny Odegaard.
Irene Halvorsen will continue as society editor at Dagsavisen in three to four weeks, and ending no later than 1 June. She joins as editor in chief Nationen after the summer.
