Every fifth woman has experienced sexual harassment from drunk colleagues at work party, according to a survey by TNS Gallup conducted for drug rehabilitation cooperative organization Actis.
The survey shows that 11 percent of all respondents have experienced unwanted sexual attention in connection with alcohol use job-related situations. 5 percent of them are men and 18 percent are women.
In addition, responding 7 percent said they had experienced insecurity, threats, harassment or violence at work events, Dagsavisen.
– This should give cause for concern and we believe the labor market will need to take more seriously the challenges that lie in alcohol use, said Actis’ General Mina Gerhardsen.
She seems percentage who harassed in alcohol-related job situations is high.
– One thing is what you can expect to experience in the taxi queue for a city tour Saturday night, but we are talking about situations where you are with colleagues. At work, you should be safe, says Gerhardsen.
She encourages NHO, LO and the other major unions to do more to keep order in their own ranks. She also wants clear guidelines on how and when it is acceptable to drink alcohol in the workplace.
Both LO and NHO responds that the use of drugs in job situations are problematic, but both believe they take the problem seriously.
