Here towed the whale – VG

It smelly hvalkadaveret towed reach out to deeper waters.

On Saturday morning the crew in rescue skate “Kristian Gerhard Jebsen» commissioned to transport it dead whales to deeper waters. The whale, which probably is a humpback or fin whales were spotted by Øyvind Turøy in the municipality of Fjell Friday morning. Whale’s final resting place is in a deserted area, so it should not be a danger to people.

Saturday afternoon acquires coastguard mission.

– Now rescue skate to quit and come gradually into to country. Furthermore coastguard boats assume responsibility for carcass, says Roger ÅSARMOEN, section chief at Fisheries Region west VG.

The rope broke

Section Manager Roger ÅSARMOEN of Fisheries Region west told VG Friday night rescue skøyen planning to tow the whale out to sea, only to blow it, probably by shooting it with a harpoon.

The duty of “Kristian Gerhard Jebsen” enlightened that they are unsure whether it will be necessary to blast animal corpse, and possibly only towed out to deeper waters.

Expert: Can explode

Researcher Arne Bjorge at IMR says to BA that whales are inflated due to a large amount of gas in the intestines. He adds that it therefore could explode anytime.

Whale Expert and physiology professor at the University of Oslo, Lars Walløe, says that whales usually are eaten by other fish after they die.

– If it does not, they run the country. Then they will begin to rot and then formed gas in the intestines and the entire abdomen, he told VG Friday.

The researcher Arne Bjorge at IMR also stated to BA that whales can explode if it is not removed during relatively short time.

– Sticking to it with a knife, for example, can entrails thrown out. There I do not recommend!
