Bus Drivers attacked and beaten by passenger – TV 2

Bergen Police had Monday around 12:30 pm scramble after a passenger went to physical attack on a bus driver and struck him in the face while the bus was in motion.

– The bus driver testified that he was punched in the face by the passenger on E39 by Søfteland. He lost then control of the bus that crashed into the barrier that was laid flat in the almost 12-meter length, says Morten Kronen, operations manager at Hordaland Police to TV 2.

There should have been many passengers on the bus, but no one should have been physically injured in the clash.

– When we came to was the passenger arrested. He is a man in his early 40s and an acquaintance of the police. He was clearly intoxicated and disruptive abusing officials on site. Now he will be prepared for custody and is likely to face in celebrating Christmas behind bars, said crown.

It is unclear what caused the attack but the bus driver is taken out of service.

– The bus driver was strongly influenced by what had happened. He is now being followed up by their employer, said crown.

E39 was partially blocked for a short time and it was long queues.

– Passengers are forwarded in a replacement bus. The road is reopened after some traffic problems to begin with, since this is a busy thoroughfare. Now go traffic that normally again, says crown.
