The whale, which probably is a humpback or fin whales, were found on the foreshore at Sotra outside Bergen and is now towed nearly four mil out to sea. Along the way, the discharged amount of gas.

Shot with machine gun
Just after 15.00 confirms Coastguard that they have shot holes on the whale.

Although much of the gas in the whale went out during towage, there was still gas left in when the animal was shot.
– It was shot in the stomach region, where it was thickest . The inflated “belly” punctured and the rest of the gas came out, says Birkeland adding:
– Now it’s natural course. It is now back where it belongs, ie below sea level.
Towed offshore
The crew aboard towing vessel released to smell the stench of rotten whale during towage.
– The whale is a good distance away the vessel, there is no desire to lie close, says duty officer in the Coast Guard VG.
Saturday night there was an option to shoot at the whale with a harpoon to get it to sink.
