Psychologists can refer to specialists – Fædrelandsvennen

The proposal involves psychologists, regardless of whether they have publicly deal or not, and wherever they work, given the opportunity to refer patients directly to treatment or examination by a specialist, writes Aftenposten.

Today works system so that psychologists must send patients to a general practitioner for referral to specialist help.

Government parties Conservatives and the Progress Party, along with the supporting portions Left and the Christian Democrats, stand united changes. The proposal submitted Friday, goes further than a similar proposal from the coalition, which refer directly only to be given to psychologists by public appointment.

Christian Democrat health spokeswoman Olaug Bollestad says competence to refer shall be linked to profession and not if the psychologist is public or private employees. She rejoices over changes and believes they will lead to time savings and fewer referrals coming in return. But in an introduction phase she admits that in the beginning probably can occur queue in the specialist as a result of the change.
