Monika's mother demands redress from the police – TV 2

– I’m not bitter, they will not hurt and wish them all the best in life.

These words come from Kristina Sviglinskaja. Mother Monika (8) is not bitter or angry at someone in the police.

Although she long struggled to be heard and believed by police. Kristina was determined that the police were wrong when they concluded that her daughter Monika (8) took his own life.

The days of her has been a bit brighter. The smile sits slightly looser. The heavy time after her daughter was found dead in autumn 2011 and all adversity that she experienced in the case the first time, becoming gradually more distant memory.

– Starts to tremble inside me

– What would you say to the police who did not believe in you and who claimed Monika took his own life?

– Only I hear that question, I start to tremble inside me, she says.

2 TV hit Kristina in Vilnius. She and counsel Stig Nilsen prepares for what will probably be one more week long trial this fall. Her former partner of Lithuania sits today detained, charged with the murder of Monika.

– Tricked to step aside

She has been frequently updated on the matter of her counsel. And she understands that the case is frequently mentioned in the Norwegian media.

– Of course do matter me tired, but it is thanks to the media that it has started to move forward and that it comes up new things in the case.

– What do you think about that Geir Gudmundsen now until further has resigned as chief of police in Hordaland?

– I think it was a wise choice, yes, I think, says Kristina thoughtfully.

– Went the wrong direction

– I never thought that I could end up in a situation where I should not have confidence in the police. I trusted the police and hoped that it could be fixed, but it just went in the wrong direction. And it was very hard to hear all the statements about suicide.

– I thought not even on it. I trusted higher powers, I trusted God and that it would be clarified in the end, says Kristina TV 2.

Requires redress from the police

Lawyer Stig Nilsen says burden for Kristina has been so great – and police mistakes so many, now he demands redress on behalf of his client.

– It assumes that there is gross negligence by Hordaland Police, known organ responsibility, where we then believe that two or more persons negligence and that this total is to be regarded as gross negligence, says counsel Stig Nilsen.

– What you build this requirement on?

– She has been the unset an extreme additional workload, and over quite a long time, so we believe it is appropriate to require replacement, says Nilsen to TV 2. He points out that this type of reparation claims, directed against the police, is very unusual. They have put forward a claim for 200,000 dollars.

Criminal injuries

Kristina will also facilitate claims against the man who today is indicted in the case. If he is convicted, the requirement will be significantly higher.

– She can and will demand redress damages from the accused and we are also considering whether it is claimed loss of income for a period, says Nilsen.

About the accused ex-boyfriend is unable to pay any compensation, will the Criminal Injuries Compensation handle this, according to Nilsen.

Lawyer Stig Nilsen has reviewed the matter to Norwegian Bureau for the Investigation of Police Affairs. He believes the report of Public Prosecutions underpins and supports the requirement for compensation from the police.

Tough times ahead

smile and laugh is back, but Kristina knows she has a tough time ahead.

– I hope that the matter ends so that I have earned and that all this matter is clarified. Then I can start living again, she smiles gently.

– It is not the same life as it was before, but still I will do my best to get a good life, concludes Kristina.
