Cyclist seriously injured in Sogn – Bergens Tidende

A cyclist fatal injuries are found in a ditch on Aurland mountain.

the cyclist is a woman in their 30s, and she was taken to Haukeland hospital by air ambulance.

The incident was reported at 16.10. The cyclist was found by the county road 243 in Aurland mountains between Aurland and Laerdal.



Participated in triathlon

– A nightmare

The woman was participating in Aurland Mountain Xtreme Triathlon. It confirms stevneleder Børge Sivertsen. He said the accident happened on the way down from Aurland mountain towards Aurland. This should be at about 1,100 meters altitude.

– What we have heard is that she could not turn and fell out of the way and settled sharply, he said.



According Sivertsen should have been more nearby who saw the accident and immediately contacted the Red Cross. They should have started first aid quickly, before the ambulance eventually arrived.

– This is a nightmare. This is what we are trying to avoid. Safety in cycling is something we take very seriously and we will inform riders that they must be careful. Yet this may be happening. Now we just hope that it goes well, says Sivertsen.

There were 225 participants in Triathlon.
