Smoke development Widerøe aircraft before landing – VG

A Widerøe aircraft had to make a so-called controlled safety landing when it began to smoke in the cabin on the way to the airport in Mo i Rana. Nobody was injured in the incident.

The plane landed at the airport Røssvoll 21.30 o’clock, and all 38 of the plane was evacuated. According to police in Helgeland was some of the passengers examined by health after inhaling smoke.

– 3-5 minutes before landing sent out a mayday machine signal due smoke in the cockpit, said information officer at Widerøe, Silje Brandvoll to Avisa Nordland.

The plane had 35 passengers and a crew of three. All received a debriefing after landing. Widerøe reports that passengers will be taken care of and it will be arranged with the hotel, rebooking or alternative transportation whichever is needed.

– The aircraft will be standing on the ground until it is carried out investigations and we know what is the cause of the smoke development, says Brandvoll.

Since there is no technician stationed at Mo, this earliest Monday.

The AIBN is notified of the incident.

– We can confirm that it is registered a notice by AIBN. We will consider the matter in the course of tomorrow, says duty accident inspector Edith Irgens.
