Dead man found in manhole on the campsite – Bergens Tidende

A man is found dead in a manhole on the Rørestrand Camping in Horten. The police department reviews the death as suspicious and have launched an investigation.

Police have launched a full investigation after a random passer-by alerted about the discovery of some clothes outside a toaletthus on the area of the campsite just above at 12 on Saturday. When the police came to the spot to investigate the matter, they found for each of the dead man in the manhole close by.

We are investigating this as a suspicious death. It is unclear what has happened, there are no persons who are missing or otherwise called for in the area, ” says operasjonsleder Anne Meyer at the police department in the county of Vestfold to the NTB.

Investigators from the local police was on Saturday afternoon in the initial phase to establish a full investigation of what lies behind. The newspaper Gjengangeren writes that the area is blocked off, and several policemen examine the site. Images Tønsbergs Blad has from the site, also shows that the fire department assists the police with a lift.

Police have cordoned off the area. With regard to the investigation I can not say anything about the scene or about the lid on the pit where the dead man lay was on or not, ” says Meyer.

Police knew on the afternoon of Saturday nor the identity of the deceased. The man is sent to autopsy at the Norwegian institute of public health in Oslo.
