Donald Trump arguing with Broadway, and Sylvi Listhaug Kristoffer Get. There is epic conflict on both sides of the Atlantic.
Trump didn’t like that his future vice president was booed at during a Broadway performance, and features in a familiar style – and with fairly authoritarian tendencies – has used his Twitter account to go after the theatre.
Sylvi Listhaug used Facebook to convey that she thought it was really good norgesreklame when the New York Times wrote a critical article on Norway’s harsh practice for the return of the families to Afghanistan. The article told about a seven-year-old boy who was sent out of Norway after four years here. Norway is heavily in Europe. “Like and share!”
But when actor Kristoffer Get turned Listhaugs flair for social media against her, it wasn’t fun anymore. Get encouraged people to donate money to the Norwegian Organisation for asylum Seekers (NOAS) in Listhaugs names, with immediate and incredible success. Listhaug responded with a poster created especially for Facebook, where she takes upon herself to defend the Norwegian welfare against this “hylekoret”. And thus we got a night on Facebook, which almost have to go into the history books.
Trump and Listhaug seems about as offended. Listhaug has probably a little bit more control over their own emotions, but none of them seem to understand much of what the critics think, or to have particularly great respect for them. Critics and isn’t is primarily the obstacles in her way, annoying items that must be taken. Therefore, she could not resist the temptation to go after Kristoffer Options and those who support his statements.
Listhaug has recently tried to share out voksenkjeft both a journalist and a ungdomspolitiker she does not like – rather trumpistisk style it also. Now she has therefore reduced those who disagree with her to a single large “hylekor”. Friend you to it, Listhaug. This is the people. Now cook it among godhetstyranner the country.
We think not on it. We do not believe that your strictness really is your way of helping the refugees. No matter how strictly you do it in Norway, will desperate people take care of the Mediterranean sea. All you ensure, is that those who survive the journey have even fewer options when they come up, even less hospitality to apply for.
How much of your power you spend on actually helping? Where are your ambitions for a policy that really can save lives? A innvandringsminister in flyktningkrisens time, in a country with huge resources, should have a clear ambition to play a positive role and to alleviate the tragedies now unfolding daily. Just like the one from american president should have more important things to do than to curse out a theater, you should in this dramatic time have other tasks to prioritise than to take up the fight against an actor who makes sure to direct a bit of money in the direction of a legal aid organization for asylum seekers.
But – again like Trump – seems Listhaug more concerned to try to sjalte out the competition (“hylekoret”) than by those who ought to stand in the centre: people on the run.
Does the job , Listhaug and the job must be something other than a zero vision. The refugees are out there. Each of them represents a fantastic opportunity for you to make a difference.
And just think – maybe it will feel even a little better than some “likes” on Facebook.
