The deceased man in the 20s was on a bike ride with a group of students – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): A cyclist at the start of the 20s was killed when he was hit by a car on County Road 176 at Gardermoen afternoon.

Bilisten is now charged with manslaughter and negligent driving.

– The deceased is a man in early 20s from the Oslo area. He is part of a student group for sport in Norway, said sheriff Bjørn Hoff at Nannestad and Gjerdrum sheriff’s office told Dagbladet.

Suspected drunken driving

Police have not yet gotten the clarity of events, but Man in 20s was riding his bicycle with four other riders, when the collision occurred.

– What we can say now, concretely, is that at least one of them was hit by the car. But we can not say anything about how it happened yet, says Hoff.

The driver is a man in early 40s from Nannestad. He is not regarded as an acquaintance of the police, and, according to the sheriff not a history of similar cases.

– He had a blow test which gave effect, indicating that he might have been drunk. So the driver was taken to further blood test for suspected drunk driving, said Sheriff Court to Dagbladet.

– Not questioning tonight

– I have spoken with my client and I are in constant dialogue with the police, says lawyer Andreas Ihlebæk, who defend the accused.

He wants not to comment on how the driver sets up the accusation or his condition.

– It is not appropriate to interview tonight, says defender.

The police will not yet make the examination of the other four racers. They handled now by the crisis team.

Witnesses followed by

The driver drove on from the spot after the collision, but was arrested not far away after a short time.

– The driver had stopped by itself. Witnesses had seen him and followed and contacted police, lighted Operations Thorleif Skovereng in Raumarike police Dagbladet earlier tonight.
